A Man and His Guitar

Bob Easter is one of the most prominent names in Australian Bush Ballad music today; known for his authentic pick-and-strum picking, a hat turned down in front, and a gift of delivering lyrics with emotion and honesty, Bob’s fans know he is as country as the songs he sings.

Bob grew up in rural NSW, sharing a love of music with his dad and inheriting his natural musical talent. He started out performing in local pubs and clubs, and soon Bob caught the attention of the legendary Noel ‘Poley’ Everett. During the 1980s, Bob was invited to tour extensively throughout North Queensland with Poley and the Outback Country Band. From there, Bob’s music career was unstoppable; festivals, guest appearances, and his own shows filled his calendar while he still made time for charities close to his heart, performing at the Rescue Helicopter Appeal and major charity shows for the Royal Flying Doctor.

In 2000, after a music-loving entrepreneur saw Bob performing, the country music recording label Drover was formed with the express purpose of recording Bob and his authentic country style of music. ‘Land of the Big Blue Sky’, Bob’s debut album, was released in August of that year and took Bob’s music career to new heights. The album was produced by the ‘Master of Country Guitar’ and multi-award-winning producer Lindsay Butler, who, after years of touring with Slim Dusty and Buddy Williams, knew exactly how to showcase Bob’s Bush Ballad and Traditional Country style.

With Bob’s first album a success, the label expanded, and in 2003, Bob, along with newly signed artists Melissa Bajric and Graham Rodger, released ‘Drovin’ All Over’. The track ‘Like Family to Me’ penned by Graham, especially for Bob and Melissa, was an instant favourite among fans and country radio.

After years of touring and performing, Bob’s fans became the focus of his next album, a selection of the songs most requested at his live shows. From Henry Lawson’s ‘Do You Think That I Do Not Know’ to Stan Coster’s ‘Old Gidgee Tree’, Bob tells the stories of the people and land in the genuine country style his fans know and love.

Bob has been awarded many honours throughout his music career, including being an inductee of the Country Music Wall of Honour in Australia’s country music capital, Tamworth, and the Australian Country Music Stars of Fame.
